Finished in a blended combination of stains to give an aged, sun-kissed look and stamped with “official” travel markings (to finish the authenticity of these fun pieces).

“X” Sliding Door Console

We took plans for an “X” style console and added sliding doors per customer request! Even though the top is planked, we really take pride it making the top as smooth as possible for a nice clean, classic look while still rustic. Gave it all over over stain using Gray Gel Stain and sealing with Arm r Seal

Little farmhouse cabinet

This adorable little farmhouse cabinet was custom made for a historic home in Columbia SC. It's the perfect combination of new and reclaimed wood. The case and doors we made from new materials but the top and edges were given a special treatment from local reclaimed boards, adding a touch of history, warmth and flair! And Pineapple Cream paint gave it the perfect feminine touch!

Big Beauty Sliding Door console

This 8ft long hunk of wooden barnwood beauty was hand built by us using all gorgeous Alder wood. The body was painted in Seagull Gray milkpaint and the doors and smooth planked top were coated in light java gel stain to keep that gorgeous barnwood feel.

Mahogany Buffet

The Mahogany Buffet is an original design made for clients of Lifestyle Interiors of The Plains, Virginia. I made it to match the look, color, and style of other large impressive pieces in a client’s dining room. In other words…it had to be impressive yet look like it had always been there.

The construction of this buffet posed several challenges. Its large size (9 ½’ in length) called for a modular design. The center-module and two rounded end-modules were transported separately and then assembled on-site before the single-piece granite tabletop was installed. The door panels are crotch-grain African mahogany, made of consecutive veneer cuts from the same log for a consistent grain pattern across the piece. Curved door and cabinet components are bent laminations. The curved door panels are bendable plywood sandwiched between veneers.

The design called for the ability to store and easily access a large volume of heavy items within the buffet. The center section holds six large dovetailed maple drawers on concealed heavy-duty fully extendable slides. The rounded end sections hold 2 shelves. The tabletop is sized to accommodate large buffet settings. The brass door pulls and hinges are from WhiteChapel LTD. Photography is by Mona Botwick.

The color, sheen, and texture of the finish had to match the other pieces in the room. I began by mixing an oil-based stain from a variety of aniline dyes to match the color. Surface preparation called for scraping erratic grain areas, and then sanding all parts through successive grits to 220. The stain was applied, and I allowed several days for the oil to fully cure. Next came a sealer coat of shellac (Zinsser SealCoat) followed by multiple coats of General Finishes Gloss Arm-R-Seal urethane. I carefully sanded with 320 grit paper between coats. The final 2 coats were a 50/50 mix of satin and semi-gloss Arm-R-Seal, which was necessary to match the sheen of other pieces in the room. A hand-rubbed coat of Minwax Paste Furniture Wax completed the finish.

Restoration Hardware Coffee Table turned Toy Storage

We started from scratch to build this Restoration Hardware inspired printmaker's table. But it wasn't built for storing prints! This large coffee table really has one drawer, the perfect large drawer to hide the kid's toys! You would never know when you see it! It provides high end looks, but is super functional for a family with little kids. And once the kids grow up, it can become a blanket storage! This is the coffee table that grows with your family. To finish it off, we created a weathered wood finish with dark walnut stain and multiple layers of white wash. Completed with distressing and multiple layers of poly, allowing the kids to play hard.

Handcrafted Apothecary Chest

For my mixed media inks was looking for a storage unit and there were none out there, so, I designed and made this for the sole purpose of storing small ink.

I know this is under woodworking, but believe it or not this was constructed with 1/4 inch foam core, then constructed together decopauged and painted.

Worked out wonderful for the purpose was to be used for.

‘Kriger’ sliding barn door console

The ‘Kriger’ sliding barn door console is a fusion of Craftsman meets farmhouse. The simple, clean lines compliment a wide variety of home decor themes without stealing the show. The piece is constructed of solid wood and handcrafted sliding barn door hardware made of raw steel, patio door wheels and a variety of hex and carriage bolts and screws.

The body of the sliding barn door console is finished in Rustoleum linen white chalk paint, sealed with Rustoleum matte top coat and given a smooth, natural finish with Minwax natural wax.

The top is a custom mix of 1 part General Finishes Natural wood stain and 3 parts General Finishes Espresso wood stain sealed with a satin High Performance top coat.

The sliding barn door hardware is raw steel cleaned with brake degreaser and rubbed with a silicone gun cloth. The door bolts, nuts and screws were sanded and painted with Rustoluem Black Hammered spray paint.

This piece was created over a series of weekends, between full-time careers and packed summer schedules, with a whole lot of love. This piece was donated to the fundraising benefit of a friend recently diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. ‘Kriger’ is both a nod to her as a warrior and our Norwegian heritage.
