This dining set was delivered to us in boxes by the client, after she purchased from an unfinished furniture store. Once we got the boxes open, we weren't staring at a solid wood table at all, we were staring at parawood. If you've never stained parawood before, it can be tricky. Especially when using a water based product. After a few hand attempts, we developed a new staining method.

We completed this set with our sprayer using a custom toner created from GF HPTC and Walnut water based stain. We sprayed several coats until the desired tone, and evenness of tone was achieved.

Coral Reef Bed

This 4 poster bed was, believe it or not, a bed in a box. Purchased by a grandfather for his granddaughter to go in her bedroom in a brand new home the family was building. Bed was shipped in a box as a raw wood product. Bed was assembled, sanded, primed and painted in Sherwin William's color Coral Reef in lacquer.

I was searching for a table I could add some jazz to for my daughter as she goes off to college this fall. Her studio has just enough room for a small table. I saw this table posted, and although it needed some underside repairs, the price was right, and I knew I could do something cool. I've worked with these tables before (that come unfinished), & to be honest, they aren't my favorite to work with. The wood is hard, & nothing really absorbs into them (even gel stain is a struggle). After trying a few penetrating stains, I ended up getting Fusion's Driftwood Stain & Finishing Oil in One to work. I knew I wanted to paint the bottom a dark color, but wanted it to be rustic, because she has a huge dog that I knew wouldn't be gentle. I ended up alternating layers of Fusion Mineral Paint Champness, GF Driftwood, & FMP Ash, sealing the bottom with GF High Performance Gloss. I loved the bottom, but it didn't look quite right with the top, so I added a thick layer of GF Black Gel Stain over the Driftwood Stain, and LOVED it. I then used 2 coats of FMP Stain & Finishing Oil in Natural to keep that black & driftwood mix.

Because my daughter is sassy, with a style all of her own, I wanted to pair it with something equally as sassy. This iCanvas by Scott Rohlf's, titled "Never Lose Hope," was perfect. It's dramatic & moody - just like my teenager!

Ikea Rast Nightstands

These Ikea Rast nightstands were purchased as raw pine pieces. They came disassembled in two flat boxes, and it was up to me to give them some character and pizazz! By using Varathane's Weathered Wood Accelerator and General Finishes High Performance Topcoat in Satin, these cutie pie pieces went from plain old pine to dazzling driftwood darlings!
