I went with the layered look on this cabinet. It acts as a "accent" piece in the room, but it still matches and flows perfectly. I did a custom mix undertone of GF Snow White and Antique White, followed up with GF Driftwood. I lightly sanded the GF Driftwood so you could see the custom mix of whites showing through.

This was a vintage 1970s dresser that used to live at my friend's childhood home. When the home was going up for sale recently and my friend's mother started getting rid of some of her furniture that wouldn't be going to the new home, I knew exactly which piece I wanted to take with me.

This piece was still in pretty good shape, but had seen better days. The 70s might have made way for some cool design profiles, but some of the materials used for cost-effective measures (ie. pressed wood covered in laminate) did not mix well with moisture from wet pool towels as this dresser used to sit right inside the back door leading outside.

The laminated top had some swollen spots from water getting absorbed into the pressed wood and even painting it wasn't going to work in covering up the difference in texture and thickness. So, I decided to completely transform the top by using a concrete overlay. The body of the dresser was painted in Graphite chalk paint by Annie Sloan. Afterwards, a light glaze with General Finishes Pitch Black was used. The inside of the drawers were given a light coat of Paris Grey chalk paint by Annie Sloan. The entire piece was sealed with General Finishes High Performance Top Coat in flat.

Faux Wood Barn Door

Barn doors used in offices or homes should be a statement piece not just another door dividing two rooms. These barn doors went from a plain white solid core door to a beautiful faux wood statement piece!

Using several different colors and mixing with General Finishes water based glaze, I was able to create this beautiful faux wood look.

I had collected a modge podge of different pieces over the years that all came together in the piece as if they were destined to be joined! I painted this in a mix of antique white chalk paint and Mahaghony stain which gave it a grayish purple color, added a soft pink for highlights, and rose gold hardware. The mirror was missing the two side pieces so I got creative and predrilled holes and purchased cheap sets of vanity lights from Lowe's. And boom you see the results of my efforts! One of my absolute favorite pieces still to this day!

French Provincial Chest

This French Provincial chest has been refinished in beautiful layers of gray by using Waverly Elephant and a discontinued color similar to Waverly Mineral. Gorgeous details are accented in Valspar black glaze that coordinate with the matching black hardware. Rustoleum Java Brown glaze and light distressing complete the look.
