This Coastal Barn beauty has hues inspired by driftwood. Many layers create the barnwood effect.

BIN primer, and a color coat of SW Creamy water based lacquer create the base layers. Valspar Antiquing glaze and a touch of AS dark wax complete the look to create subtle tones.

This Barnwood Beauty was an early project for Pendulum Designs that sparked many custon orders. This dresser looks like it was rescued from my grandpa's barn!

BIN Primer, SW Creamy Kem Aqua create the base layers. The top is stained with GF Gray Gel Stain. Valspar antiquing glaze and a top coat, followed by AS dark and black waxes completed the layering.

The Sunkist Dresser

I call this piece the Sunkist Dresser. This antique dresser has a bottom drawer that was repaired by the previous owner with an old Sunkist wooden crate. I decided to keep that fun detail and not mess with that particular drawer. The rest of the dresser I painted a weathered gray look and gave the top and drawer fronts my signature Driftwood Look.

The body of the dresser was painted in Lamp Black Milk Paint using a Cling-On brush. The drawer fronts were first painted in Driftwood Milk Paint. Then painted in Argentine Pearl Glaze Effects. I then applied with VanDyke Brown Galze Effects. The piece was sealed with Satin HPTC applies with a Wagner Flexio Sprayer.

Rustic Mexican nightstand

I love the simplicity and rustic style of Mexican furniture. When I stumbled on this nightstand in a thrift shop I was smitten. I especially loved the crack in the top. I knew it needed a rustic finish to complement the style. After adding some feet to bring the height up a bit, I used shades of grey from Dixie Belle paint to create highlights and shadowing. I further enhanced the effect with dark wax. The top was sanded bare and stained using a combination of watered down paint and black wax.

Natural Wood Whitwashed Nightstands

I started to prep these nightstands for paint, but as I started sanding, the old finish started coming off quickly. I didn't want to create a bigger mess, so I started sanding everything down to the bare wood. I just kept sanding and sanding and sanding until I realized that I needed to finish off the corners and I would have completely natural nightstands. Of course, once the fresh wood takes on any sealer, the wood soaks up the moisture and deepens again, so I wiped on multiple coats of whitewash to bring out the natural grain and create a natural wood finish that will last past the sealer.

Aren't those legs stunning?? Nothing like some white paint, and distressing to make them show their potential. Along with a weathered wood grey top with multiple layers of white, greys and black. We created the weathered wood finish by dry brushing and blending all of these colors together, along with a wash of the white and a layer of stain in between. This is one of our most popular transformations!

No more laminate top for this one....

I had picked this table and chair set. I wasn't paying attention and saw it was laminate :( . So I decided to remove the top and fabricate my own barn wood/farmhouse style table. I used 2x4's to replace the top. I did those in a dark stain, then white distressed body and legs and new more modern fabric to complete the look.
