Tenement house chest

Inspiration to create this particular piece was a prewar tenement house in my home town.

I have prepared my own transfer graphics based on the photos I took.

As you can tell tenement houses and old furniture are a true passion of mine.

I have used my own technique of layering different colours and patterns to achieve a look of an old building elevation.

All had been waxed for protection

Transferred butterfly top with a twist is just what this sad,nasty,dirty,covered in gunk antique hospital table needed ...did I say nasty? Well,I am not exaggerating at all. Got busy and sanded,cleaned,sanded....no go nothing was coming off this nasty piece pulled out the big guns. The dreaded stripper...if you are going to upcycle furniture you are going to use stripper you might as well get used to it. And then I sanded,cleaned,sanded did I say cleaned?

Ok, we are ready for the fun part painted blue Benjamin Moore color....if you recycle very many pieces you will soon learn what improvise or roll with the flow means...my image to transfer would not fit the entire top so I taped off diagonal stripes and transferred image stripes on the top...I LOVE IT...

ADDED JWELED BUTTERFLY TO FRONT DRAWER AND GOLD DIPPED LEGS EQUALS STYLING. Her name is FLY AWAY

Farm House Cabinet

This cute farm house cabinet was stripped of its old finish and given new life using Country Chic Paint in the color Vanilla Frosting an IOD Transfer,Java gel and Country Chic Paints Hemp Oil. New hinges and beadboard backing painted in CCP Pebble Stone were also added to the updated look.

At His Feet

Sometimes you see that piece that looks hopeless but yet you know it deserves to have another chance of being loved! This was just that piece! It was a wreck and I truly doubted I could salvage the top. My client gave me the freedom to create what I saw! Knowing that she was a worship leader, what better place to be than at His feet! I found a very old painting of the woman at Jesus’s feet, applied it to the middle, adding copper accents. The two sides depict her only son waving at her as he was heading to college but in her mind he would always be her baby. The other side reflects her husband who truly cherishes her and is still holding her hand all these years later! I used a blending method with a black glaze over the burgundy paint. The sides are a variation of hues and colors, lending a gorgeous interest and completed the look. I loved the copper accents so added the finishing touches with painting the original hardware copper

I wanted to bring to the center a feeling of the painting flowing out of its boundary. After transferring it, it was very rough but I hand painted each transfer , taking out elements that I didn’t feel belonged and painting in the robe to flow over and out of the painting edges. The top was stripped and then I stained each piece of the sunbeam different colors of stain. Hence, everywhere you move and look at the top, it changes with the light and brings brilliance to the piece! The inside of the drawers were stained and then a stencil used to make them look finished. The integrity and workmanship of the piece was high quality and when finished it became an heirloom to her! Another generation to love it and enjoy it! She has told me numerous times that it is her favorite piece she has ever owned and will never get rid of it but will pass it drown to her child! Now that’s what I love to hear!

This is an antique wardrobe that was ready for a new look. I used DIY Paint in Vintage Linen and Gypsy Green with the Prima Marketing Carte Postal Transfer. White wax and a custom Gypsy Green wax were used to enhance the colors.

General Finishes Queenstown Gray and Antique White milk paints were used to create this Chalky effect on this pretty chest of drawers. I wet blended the colors during application and then added a little DIY Paint Kissing booth for a pop of color. The top was painted in Antique White and glazed with a custom gray glaze. The body of the dresser was sealed with General Finishes High Performance Topcoat in Satin. Then the beautiful IOD Transfer was applied. I sealed again with the HP Satin, then finished with MIss Mustard Seed White Wax.

Bulbs Dresser

A 50/50 blend of General Finishes Linen and General Finishes Holiday Red, then I wet blended with Linen applying both the mix and the linen with the same brush. The 50/50 blend was then placed in a water bottle with a 60/40 water to paint ratio, and I sprayed starting at the top of the dresser for some cool weathering and a drippy effect. General Finishes Driftwood was used for the top, I then sealed everything with with High Performance Topcoat in satin. The IOD Transfer was applied, then I used Miss Mustard Seed White wax, and a homemade gray wax using driftwood and clear wax (80/20 blend, wax to paint) to complete the look.
