Heroes Of The Night

When I saw the style of this dresser, I knew exactly what I wanted to do to it. Texture medium was calling my name!

The top, first and fifth drawer was finished by spreading a thin layer of ArtsSyVille Embellishments texture medium. I used the crocodile skin roller to roll through the plaster to create the pattern. Once it dried, I then sanded it until smooth. Next I painted two coats of Modern Masters blackened bronze metallic paint then I dry brushed Annie Sloan chalk paint in burgundy, barcelona orange and country grey in a random fashion. I then pulled it together with General Finishes pitch black glaze effects for depth.

The body was painted in General Finishes lamp black milk paint and was also used to dry brush the knobs.

The second drawer was finished in Annie Sloan chalk paint in burgundy and finished with General Finishes pitch black glaze effects.

The third drawer was finished with a thin coat of ArtsSyVille Embellishments texture medium then rolled through with the ostrich skin roller. Once dried, I sanded until smooth and painted two coats of Modern Masters antique copper metallic paint. I then dry brushed randomly with DIY paint in mermaid tail and glazed with General Finishes van dyke brown glaze effects.

The fourth drawer was finished with DIY paint in mermaid tail and glazed with General Finishes pitch black glaze effects.

The entire dresser was top coated with three coats of General Finishes high performance top coat.

I sat back and said to myself, "Hmm, something is missing. " So I added clasp Embellishments to two of the drawers. "Viola!" My tribute to the "Heroes Of The Night!"

Breakfast Table

This was another golden oak dining table from the 80s until I let loose with my favourite stencil from Royal Design Studios: Lisboa. I painted the legs in Annie Sloan's Greek Blue Chalk Paint and then the top with AS Pure White. I used AS Greek Blue, Florence, Arles, Barcelona and a touch of English Yellow to complete the design.

Sea Sage Beauty

This antique dresser dates back to 1870-1900. I can identify the dates of the dresser because of the joint used on the drawers. It's called a Knapp Joint. This diamond in the rough was found at a yard sale in Hampton, NH. I bought three pieces that day! Two of these dressers were almost identical. With this particular dresser I decided to paint it a pretty sage green color. I sanded the top and stained it a dark java color. I then decided to have a little fun and I stenciled gold metallic feathers on the inside of each of the drawers. I went further and stenciled each side of the dresser as well. I replaced all the old wooden knobs with gorgeous glass knobs with gold centers.

Neutral not Boring

I had just learned about decorative rollers when this waterfall hope chest came into my life. I wanted to keep the piece neutral but give it lots of interest and movement because neutral doesn’t have to be boring. After painting an Old White base coat, I layered a color wash and then a glaze through which I ran my Primrose decorative roller. A light sanding and a little artfully places distressing then I sealed it with clear wax.

Light Grey Girl's Dresser

Adding a raised stencil to drawer fronts is the perfect addition to a little girl's room! And this texture isn't just an ordinary texture. It actually looks like it's part of the dresser because when it's distressed, it shows up in a wood tone instead of the normal white plaster! I love how this damask pattern really looks girly and lacy!

All That Pizzaz!

Once a vanity painted lavender, but all the details of something just waiting to be revealed and enhanced - I stripped the whole piece first, only to find the top had been replaced with plywood - no pretty woodgrain found there. However, there was bird's eye maple on portions of it. This was a custom piece, however, so I set out to marry the old with the new in design and function - stripes, raised stenciling, stenciling and glazing, and hand-painting to look worn on the edges. She now serves as the reception desk in an organic hair salon in my home town.

Navy Blue Antique Dresser with Raised Embossing

From trash to treasure. This old dresser was worn and damaged, but now it's new and fresh! We created this vintage modern raised embossing on each drawer with a stencil and then painted all of the dresser in our most popular navy blue.

Country Hutch

I combined this hutch from two different pieces of furniture, both in eclectic style, which I adore.

Preparation involved dewarming and disposing of old varnish layer.

I’ve painted blue over white and green and distressed with spatula. Stenciled with red paint and added white highlights with tiny brush. I’ve decided to leave waxed wood inside to show the piece is made of wood.

I love chippy and country style and this is what I wanted to achieve here.

Whole furniture is finished with clear and dark wax.
