This old Jacobean armchair needed a refresh to bring it into this century! I sanded and painted the body, ripped off all the old upholstery, redid the padding, covered the caned back, and reupholstered the whole thing in a modern fabric.

Black Beauty Dresser

This is a dresser that was given to me by family that I have used for years. I finally got around to refinishing it to match my bed.

I first washed the dresser with warm water, sanded it a bit and washed again. I applied three coats of General Finishes Gel Stain in Java using a foam brush, letting each coat dry for a day between applications. I then put on three coats of General Finishes High Performance Water Based Top Coat. I used a foam brush to apply these coats also and let them dry a day between coats. For the handles and knobs, I used the originals, sanding them and spray painting them with Rust-oleum Matte Hammered spray paint.

This was my first ever project like this and I am so pleased with the results.

A cupboard touched with a sky

I would like to show you and at the same time try to infect you with the passion that has recently swallowed me up. I adore objects with a soul, to which the cabinet belongs, heavenly tingling. The cabinet has been cleaned, worn and degreased. I applied Milk Paint General Fonishes and Anna Sloan chalk paints in layers. Finished with Anna Sloan wax and Glaze Effects.

Twenty Dollar Find

Twenty dollar find! I love the mid-century modern dressers and had been looking for one for a long time. Low and behold one morning while I was on Facebook, one popped up on a rummage sale site. It was in rough shape, but I already had a vision of what I wanted it to look like! When I got the piece home, we cleaned it up and one of the wood handle pieces was missing....hmmm... what would work as a replacement... After some thought, and an old piece of trim laying around, I found the PERFECT replacement...and a project for my husband! He attached corner trim to the drawers.

I sanded the drawers down and stained them with General Finishes Antique Walnut Gel Stain and top coated them with General Finishes High Performance Flat Top Coat. The rest of the dresser, and new handle pieces, were painted in General Finishes Coastal Blue Milk Paint and topcoated with General Finishes High Performance Flat Top Coat.

The dresser turned out exactly how I envisioned it and is a wonderful addition to our bedroom, especially with all the drawer space!!!

Rags to Riches - Classic Navy

I saw this neglected end table and instantly knew that with some elbow grease it would be a timeless piece.

The first steps were taking it apart, cleaning it up, and preparing it for it's new beginning. The body of the end table and the inside base were painted with General Finishes Coastal Blue Milk Paint. I then added General Finishes High Performance Flat Top Coat for durability. New hardware added to the timelessness of the piece.

Bourbon Cabinet

I was looking for a DIY piece that would display my husbands bourbon collection. Purchased a China cabinet and repurposed the top piece of the cabinet. Added feet to it and a pine plank top. I used GF Cardamon Brown chalk paint along with GF black glaze effects. GF Java Gel stain on the top with the HPTC in satin. Used the original hinges but purchased new hardware for the handles. I started doing furniture about a year ago. Truly enjoy it!

Enchanted mirror

Creating was always not only my hobby, but also true passion. For a long time I was making gifts for my family things home. I'm going to change the look of a bathroom, that's 15 years old and I've found the perfect mirror and a small night stand I wanted to use for this project.

I have used General Finishes Bone White Chalk Style Paint for my base coat and using layering technique I have dry brushed: AS Graphite, than GF Driftwood Milk Paint, that AS Paris Grey. I added gold leafs to the tream and dry and dry brushed General Finishes Pearl Effects in Towny Gold. To add depth I have used GF Van Dyke Glaze Pitch Black Glaze. I put so much heart and soul to this project as I always do. I love how it turned out and the most importantly my hubby love it too. He gave me his approval for new bathroom style look (I must say, he was little sceptical at first :-) ). I have a sealed with Nordic Chic Clear Wax

Dated Dresser to Farmhouse Vanity

This piece began as a well-worn pine dresser that I repurposed into a farmhouse style bathroom vanity. After templating for the sink and sanding down completely, I stained the top with General Finishes Antique Walnut gel stain, followed by 3 coats of High Performance Satin Topcoat. The bottom is painted with Benjamin Moore Aura in Nocturnal Gray. I was able to salvage the existing pulls for the center doors, but replaced the drawer pulls with new hardware.
