An ordinary cabinet was given an updated modern twist. The original mirrored backing was removed and replaced with beadboard. Each pane was "painstakingly" hand painted in lamp black and the shell given a finish of chalk white. The oversized iron handles were added for an unexpected twist.

This simple, pretty piece needed to have a bit of drama painted on her. Starting at the top...then moving to the bottom, then going back to the top and dragging paint down...back and forth until it was done!

This fantastic piece is a vintage library table featuring wood details that will grab your attention and keep it. Her barley twist legs and trim stand out, begging for your attention. Wanting to not completely cover her beautiful wood grain, her body was finished in GF Black Pepper using a wash and distress. Those sexy legs were finished in a layering of GF Limestone Gray and Bone White with wet distressing and Black GF glaze. Her gorgeous top wash freshened with Antique Walnut GF Gel Stain and sealed completely in High Performance Top Coat in Satin sheen. And she is an absolute show stopper!!

Let the cherubs sing a beautiful melody, jump back in time with this 1930-40’s Jacobean. I couldn’t resist the urge to shabby chic this beauty that tells a story. I painted her in Crisp Cotton by Wicked Finishes, applying with a water mister and brush. I then decided to distress her to show her age. I used a very fine sand paper to reveal her wood undertones, randomly aging on the edges. I then applied hand stamped cherubs, chandelier patterns, fluer dis , and link work around the doors and sides. I used Redesign by Prima stamps. Using a ink pad that I purchased also, I covered each stamp with ink then applied the design. . I then stained the top in a java gel stain with a damp sponge smoothing it out evenly. I left the bottom in it’s natural state to match the top and backsplash. I then sealed the entire piece in General Finishes top coat flat out flat. I also used a damp sponge to spread it with. My mother loved Cherubs so this piece is special to me. I named her after my mother... Sára’s Gate.

Old World Urn Buffet

This bespoke antique Jacobean Buffet is a beautiful statement piece. Its ornate lines are perfectly juxtaposed against the antiqued finish creating a versatile look that will complement many styles. I began this rare beauty's make-over by replacing the outdated original veneered top that was on it with three found exotic solid wood slabs of Iroko, which is an African hardwood tree similar to Teak. I applied three coats of General Finishes High Performance Top Coat to protect the surface. Next up, I applied a "facial scrub" (aka stucco) to enhance her already lovely patina. Then I applied a base coat of the perfect shade of black called Weathered Wood to lay the foundation for the finishing touches. The next step in the make-over process is where the transformation really took place... the paint application technique that I used was entirely done with an artist knife. I meticulously applied Pure White in layers over the Weathered Wood, blending in areas to add depth and dimension accentuating its naturally aged, worn look. This piece is not for the person who needs a smooth even paint finish but it is certainly perfectly imperfect! -- Finally, we completed her transformation with a nice rub down of clear wax which was applied to protect her new look. As with any make-over you start with good bones and allow the natural beauty to shine through revealing a unique beauty that's never been seen before.

Shabby vanity makeover

This piece was donated to us for a charity auction we host each year and was a mess when we got it! It had veneer missing, and was previously painted with several drips and brush strokes, it had no mirror, and needed all new drawer bottoms. After searching our inventory room we found the perfect match to the oh so shabby vanity. After all the prep work was completed these two received a beautiful base coat of Snow White and was glazed in pitch black glaze effects by General Finishes. We painted the legs in lamp black and created a beautiful statement piece.

Black and White Console Table

This black and white console table definitely stands on its own! After cleaning and sanding, the base was painted with Wise Owl Black and shelf insets with Antique Villa. After many touch ups at the edges, I was happy with the results. The shield on the sides needed a little extra something so Antique Villa was added to the inset and it was outlined with Grecian Clay. The whole thing was then sealed with GF HPTC Flat out Flat.

The Curious Curio

Passed down three generations, this classic Curio Cabinet sat in the corner curiously wondering if she’d ever get the modern update she so desparetly desired. Well, she did!

We showered her with attention, prepped and cleaned her up, and painted her in layers of silky-smooth General Finishes Black Poly. Her edges and details were lightly distressed for a bit of rustic charm and then sealed in General Finishes Pre-Cat Lacquer. Her shelves and interior were primed in General Finishes Stain Blocker and then given multiple flawless layers of General Finishes Poly tinted in creamy Antique White. This gal’s now back in her corner standing proud showing off for all of her dinner guests.
