This is a Maple Burl hollow form with a Black Walnut lid. I have been very lucky this year in harvesting burls I love turning burls because there is so much grain pattern to enjoy.

Hawaiian Mango Hollow Form

This hollow form was turned from Mango wood that came from Hawaii. The surface was completed with a hand-rubbed oil finish and the piece measures 9" x 5".

This Elm burl hollow form has been completed with a lacquer finish. The overall size is 3.5" x 2.5".

Box Elder Hollow Form

This hollow form is made from curly spalted box elder. The finish is a hand-rubbed finishing oil and the completed piece measures 11.5" x 4".

Cherry Burl Hollow Form

This is a hollow form that has been made from Cherry burl. The surface was brought to life with some red and yellow dye, and finished with lacquer. The finished piece is 7" x 7".

Marble Spirit Vessel

A Marble wood hollow vessel with a Walnut fenial. The base marble wood vessel finished with a mixture of one part polyurethane, one part mineral spirits and one part Tung Oil. The fenial finished with Shellawax Cream.

Flame Boxelder Hollow Vessel

Natural red coloring of the interior Boxelder tree complete the four inch tall hollow form with simplw edges and lines.

Hollow Vessel with Finial and Base

This Hollow Vessel was power sanded to 600 grit. After sanding I applied 2 thick coats of medium CA glue to the Maple vessel. After shooting a light coat of accelerator the vessel was re-sanded to 600 grit. At this time I buffed the surface with VONAX with a white diamond buffing wheel made by BEAL BUFFING system. The ebony finial, collar, and base were sanded to 1500 grit and shot with a single coat of MINWAX gloss lacquer.

The piece is roughly 13 in in height and 8.5 in in total width.

This is a Maple Burl that I turned and was sanded off of the lathe. It is finished with sanding sealer and GF salad bowl finish.

Wrapped Walnut

This walnut hollow vessel measures 10" tall x 5" in diameter. The lid is turned from African blackwood and is topped with a deer antler tip wrapped in hemp. The main form is wrapped in jute twine with the section being framed by bands of lines burned with a skew pyrography tip. The intent being juxtaposition of a tribal feel of the coarse natural fibers, pyrography and antler with the clean contemporary style of the high hard edged vessel with rounded lid and carved integral feet. The finish is Danish oil which has been buffed to give it a soft sheen.
