This was my first big project using dovetails and it turned out really well, especially for being built entirely with hand tools.. I found this amazing board of curly birch hiding under boring boards at Home Depot. I wanted to really highlight the grain in this box so I used Arm-R-Seal. This was my first time using it and I was super happy with how well it worked. I put 5 coats on and sanded inbetween coats with 600 grit sandpaper. Taking my time with the finishing gave me glass smooth results that popped the grain like crazy.

Wooden Fidget Spinners

These are some wooden fidget spinners I made. They are 100% functional and have a bearing in the middle and on each side. I made them using a laser cutter to cut the main body and my lathe to make the finger pads. They are sanded to 400 grit and finished with boiled lin seed oil. These toys were quite the rage over the last couple months.

A chair that feels customly designed for each person who sits in it. That is what I set out to do when making this chair. The back braces flex and pivot to perfectly match the curve of anyone's back. The arm rest's cove perfectly raps anyone's arm. I finished this chair with a home mixed wiping varnish. I mixed 1/3 Boiled Linseed Oil, 1/3 Clear Gloss Poly, and 1/3 Mineral spirits. I wiped the first coat on and was amazed at how much the Curly Maple and Sapele came to life. The wood eagerly soaked up the first coat so there was no need to wipe off any finish. After the first coat I would saturated the chair and let it sit for about 30 minutes. Then I came back with a clean rag and wiped off all of the finish that was not soaked up by the wood. I repeated this process 6 times. At the end the chair glistened in the light. I then went over the whole chair with a coat of paste wax and buffed it with my orbital sander and a buffing attachment.

I used general finishes Arm-r-seal to put a perfect layer of protection and shine to this beautiful piece of wood.

I applied multiple coats of conversion varnish with spray equipment. The top was polished with various buffing pads and compounds to achieve a durable high gloss.
