When I found her the description read "antique box" on a popular sale site. Her veneer was dry, broken, pieces of her were missing, her lid was ruined and more than half of the veneer on the bottom trim was gone. I didn't think I could restore it. My client saw her and had to have her but she wanted me to restore her and not paint. I cleaned, sanded, and oiled her up. Her lid had to be completely stripped as did the bottom trim piece. I removed two layers of veneer on the lid and all over the remaining veneer on the bottom trim to the raw cedar underneath. I blended Vintage Cherry and Medium Brown dye stains together and got a successful match to the original remaining veneer. She looks amazing now, restored to her former glory.

This beauty was refinished using Medium Brown Dye stain and Lamp Black. Love how the dye stain brings out the natural beauty of the burl wood, especially after being sealed with Arm-R-Seal. The rest of the piece was sealed using the Enduro Poly Black Satin to show that true black color.

Body of desk was painted in a Peppery Gray and pewter metallic paint added to carved accents. Desk top and drawer fronts were stripped down to the bare wood and 2 coats of the GF Light Brown water based DYE Stain applied. A gold metallic stencil was added to top before sealing. Origianl knobs were cleaned and painted in a gold metallic to match the stencil on desk top.

Waterfall buffet was painted a soft white, with raised stencils added on drawer and door fronts, and top was stripped and finished with the GF Light Brown water based DYE stain. A Stencil in a copper metallic was added before sealing.

Client pieces are my favorite. When they have significant meaning to the owner , I feel so honored. This hutch is not just any 1970's hutch. When I'm able to transform a piece and bring a smile to my client's face it reminds me why I do what I do.

My client had seen previous work of mine and so we had a vision going into this project . When I got the top sanded down fully I was able to see the potential with the grain and decided to use the light brown dye stain. Why not? As you'll see in the stages of pics it truly changed the wood and was gorgeous! I light ragged on java gel after to just richen it up to match the rest of the furniture in her home . Can never go wrong with class antique white and van dyke glaze to complete the entire transformation.

Carved Antique Vanity

This gorgeously carved antique came into my hands missing pieces, chipped, and colors fading. I am so fortunate to be the one to bring her back to life. Java and Black Gel Stain were used to complete the top and highlight the mirror frame. The various drawer fronts, interior cove, and remaining exterior were refreshed with Light Brown and Amber Dye Stains.

"Mossy Oak"

Spotting an ad in the local buy/sell group, I snagged this piece that was stated to be from the 1970s. Knowing furniture, I knew the construction/design was much earlier than said era. It had been painted, and painted, and painted, then decals stuck on to embellish! Oh My! Hauled it home, with the help of my faithful husband..began stripping away layers upon layers of paint - then sanding both by orbital sander and then sandpaper wrapped over end of a putty knife - to get into all of those corners and crevices. This baby took a LONG time. Upon reaching the treasure beneath, the beautiful wood grain needed something unique. This is when I decided upon General Finishes green dye stain for the base and gel stain for the top. "Mossy Oak" was the name that seemed appropriate. A bit more "modern" hardware to mix the old with the new was added. Sides of the drawers were also given special attention by first stenciling in General Finishes antique white, then staining over the top - which gives the illusion of an inlaid design. The entire piece was clear coated, multiple layers (as recommended) with HPTC in flat sheen. This piece now resides somewhere in MN as someone's "buffet." If furniture could write...could you imagine the story this piece might share!

Ladies Vanity

This beautiful vanity was lightly sanded with 180 then 220 grit sandpaper. The beautiful burl wood top was then stained with GF dye stain in Amber.

I needed to add some extra oomph to the front of the drawer and mirror so using Artisan Enhancements VP Antico I did a raised stenciling effect. After it was completely dry I lightly sanded the stencil to knock down any rough edges.

I used Wise Owl paints in Weathervane, Bowie, Smokey Quartz and Begonia I sanded the paint doing a very light distress here and there.

I then took a very small artists brush and "painted" the wood trim with GF dye stain in Amber letting the stain run and drip to create a beautiful green watercolor effect.

The burl wood top was finished with three coats of GF wipe on urethane in satin.

The rest of the vanity was finished with 2 coats of GF high performance top coat in flat.
